I'm Baaaack!

Dusty old space.

Well, I took a good deal of time off on this thing, thinking it over. And thinking it over again. And thinking it over again again. I am still pretty dubious about it, but the conclusion I have finally come to, is that yes, while I will do this, no, I will not do it the way I did before.

It has to be a joy, not a duty, not a chore.

I have concluded that life, while full of chores, unending chores, plow down sillion if you will, is pointless and empty, without simple joy. My gloomy Scandinavian and Presbyterian ancestors were deeply wrong, I think. Yes, life sucks. And it ends, I am looking at the big five-oh in a couple of years myself. But if you can't find something to celebrate, something to sing about, something besides anger to motivate yourself, well, it's going to be the Darkness and Gnashing of Teeth for you.

I took, and will keep, the Taking a Long View moniker. I did in the first place because of a certain level of arrogance (well me, I have always been arrogant), and because of a certain complaint with how I think most people think. But it has evolved into a reminder to myself, and something about humility, which lo these 47 years later, I am just beginning to understand.
